The services we provide serve as an enhancement to our current selection of world class teambuilding events.

This is the first edition of Explorer Tips, a punchy 1-2 minute read designed to provide useful business information in a creative way. We will always include a featured article linking to an outside source that we've found to be valuable and inspirational.

Keep a lookout for our next newsletter as it will contain an invitation to our first CorpEx Salon, a free Vancouver event you WILL NOT want to miss.

Heading Over the Edge - but NOT in a Kayak!
Making a Commitment

Decisions can be challenging for some people. Whether you are talking about getting married, choosing off a menu or selecting a vendor for your business, making a commitment can be a stumbling block. But we must make them nevertheless.

Once you've made a decision, DON'T FIGHT IT!! As a robot once said, "Resistance is FUTILE!"

Imagine if Tyler Bradt suddenly regretted going over that 186 waterfall in his kayak and decided to check out during the fall. It could have ended very badly indeed for Tyler if he didn't literally go with the flow after heading over the edge.

This same principle holds true in life and business. Once you've gotten over the hump and made a commitment to something, from that point forward, resistance is counterproductive - sometimes ridiculously so. Jumping out of your kayak (in the worst case scenario) could mean DEATH.

Translating that into business, failing to commit or even second guessing may result in business death (bankruptcy). And unless you are a car company or a bank who have the political pull to get a bailout, that will likely impact you and many other people. For most of us, we'll be bailing water out of the kayak (business) ourselves.

Demonstrating commitment is a hallmark of an Authentic Leader in business. Check out Corporate Explorer Training's Authentic Leadership program to learn how you can integrate strong commitment into your corporate culture.
As always, my objective in sending out this email is to stimulate thought in a creative way that applies directly to your business and personal life - To share GOOD STUFF with YOU!

To that end, Explorer Tips strives to be easy to read and directly linked to pertinent real-world examples you can explore further on your own.

Visit our Corporate Explorer Training Site and tell me what you like about it or what you'd like to see improved; it will be a steady work in progress. Your feedback will be rewarded with a free consultation if you mention this email.

World Record 186 ft Kayak Drop Over Palouse Falls
Palouse Falls
On April 21, 2009 in Eastern Washington, Tyler Bradt paddled over 186 ft. tall Palouse Falls, shattering the waterfall world-record he had previously set, changing the entire perception of the sport's capabilities. Bradt spent weeks with close friend, filmmaker, and former world champion Rush Sturges preparing for the attempt. Sturges put it simply: "Nothing even close to this has ever been done before. He just changed the sport forever."
